This course is designed to familiarize students with the conceptual and legal issues surrounding the unlawful practice of racial profiling. It examines critical cultural, legal and societal factors that ultimately lead to racial profiling as a discriminatory practice. The course emphasizes the need for the student to develop an understanding and respect for racial and cultural differences. Non-combative methods of carrying out law enforcement duties in a racially and culturally diverse environment are also emphasized.
