Transfers ToCSUDescriptionThis course provides comprehensive instruction in the management of patients with special health care needs and the prevention and management of medical emergencies in the clinical setting. Emphasis is placed on assessment and evaluation of patients with compromised or complex health conditions, adaptations to the dental hygiene care plan, and safe management strategies for medically compromised patients. Students will learn clinical manifestations associated with common medical emergencies, appropriate preventive measures, and evidence-based emergency response protocols in the dental office. Clinical applications will include integrating patient assessment findings into comprehensive dental hygiene care planning for special needs populations. Instruction will include an overview of emergency drugs and equipment, and a review of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification. (CSU)Usually HeldWed 11:00am–11:50am
