Special emphasis is placed on American History from 1492 into the mid 1800's, and upon understanding the historical and contemporary dynamics of colonialism and imperialism. Introduction of concepts such as race, racism, racialization, white supremacy, settler colonialism, indigeneity, and mestizaje. Focus on the impact of European arrival in the Americas, the history of Indigenous, African, and mixed-race people in the formation of Mexico.
