Transfers ToCSUDescriptionThis course is a descriptive introduction to the origin, evolution, and current state of the solar system. The topics in this course include the history of astronomy; the Sun and its role within the solar system; the origins and characteristics of planets, satellites, ring systems, dwarf planets, comets, asteroids, and other interplanetary debris; and Kepler's laws of planetary motion. The discussion of current interplanetary missions and exoplanetary systems around other stars will also be included. There may be optional field trips.
