NOTE: Approval of equivalent training is not a guarantee state regulatory or licensing agencies will also grant equivalency.Prior to beginning this course students must already be familiar with, and be able to demonstrate, all of the skills listed below. These will not be taught in the course; rather, they will be the starting point for advanced student training that builds upon them. These minimum skill levels are:Knowledge of, and familiarity regarding officer safety related to police baton use; knowledge of proper and safe tactical movement related to police baton use; knowledge of, and familiarity with sustained physical performance demands on law enforcement officers under physical situations; knowledge of proper and safe arrest and control techniques related to police baton; knowledge of, and familiarity with, California Penal codes used in law enforcement use of force pertaining to the police baton; knowledge of effective verbal and non-verbal communication used in law enforcement during arrest procedure related to the police baton; knowledge of, and familiarity with, case law pertinent to law enforcement related to the use of the police baton; ability to perform CPR and First Aid techniques; knowledge of proper documentation in police reports pertaining to the use of the police baton Transfers ToNot transferableDescriptionThis course is designed to provide students with the ability to provide instruction on proper and effective use of the expandable baton.
