Topics covered in this course will include ancient African societies; classical African civilizations along the Nile River Complex; African cultural institutions including: religion, law, art, science, education, social obligations, and the centrality of the family unit; and the consequences of the subordination of African people throughout the world at the beginning of the European Colonial era.
