This course also examines the internal dynamics of families, as well as the ways in which they are shaped by the hierarchies of the larger social world. Gender roles and expectations, media impact, intimacy, violence in families, parenting, and public policies are also explored. Special emphasis will be placed on the diversity of families and family forms.
