Concepts of ethnicity, ethnocentrism, racism, ageism, class differences, and gender issues will be addressed. Guided listening presentations will show how traditional forms and styles have combined with musical influences from other cultures to produce acculturated styles of World Music. Music of the Americas, Africa, Asia, Oceania, The Middle East and Europe will be covered.
