Instrumentation and manual methods will be introduced. The clinical internship is conducted as a non-paid laboratory experience and the student is required to attend the facility for the minimum required hours. Emphasis will be placed on technique, accuracy and precision as well as specimen receipt and evaluation, special handling procedures, and component processing in the transfusion service. Purchase of personal protective equipment, including a lab coat, safety glasses, and disposable gloves, is required. Students will also be required to provide their own transportation to the partner health care facility which may be outside of the Sacramento region.
