Applications of GIS include environmental assessment, analysis of natural hazards, management of municipal networks, business and industry site analysis, resource management and land- use planning. This course introduces the concepts, techniques, and tools of GIS including spatial data capture, management and analysis, as well as cartographic output through hands-on experience using GIS software. Students may be required to purchase GIS software and a flash drive in order to complete this course.
