Transfers ToCSUDescriptionThe course introduces the principles and history related to the national firefighter life safety initiatives, focusing on the need for cultural and behavioral changes throughout the emergency services profession. Emphasis is placed on occupational health and safety of firefighters as well as their personal and organizational accountability. Topics include safety, risk management, medical and fitness standards, industry standards relating to vehicle operation and road scene safety as well as firefighter fatality case studies and analysis. The course emphasizes best safety practices before, during, and after the emergency incident. This course meets Emergency Services 263 the National Fire Academy, Fire and Emergency Services Higher Education (FESHE) curriculum model for Principles of Fire and Emergency Services Safety and Survival.
