Transfers ToCSUDescriptionThis course will prepare early childhood educators to recognize, understand and enhance the emergent language and literacy experiences and skills of young children. The knowledge of developmentally appropriate language and literacy practices will improve early childhood educators' abilities to support young children in the early years (birth to five years) to build a strong foundation for learning to read and write in the primary grades. Topics include an overview of the teacher's role in developing appropriate language and literacy experiences for young children, including strategies to support learning English as a second language.
