    Description
    This course provides an introduction to foundational Contemporary dance technique, examining the development of this popular integrated dance form that draws from Ballet, Jazz, and Modern dance. Dancers will learn to utilize existing and innovated dance phrases to communicate an emotional state or story line, developing smooth movement transitions of group choreography for performance. In this course students will learn to perform beginning level dance positions, warm up exercises, turns and techniques safely and precisely. Center and across the floor exercises will focus on control, strength and balance. Students will develop a Contemporary movement vocabulary and be able to apply classical and choreographic terminology appropriately. Students will be required to supply appropriate dance attire and dance shoes for rehearsal and performance, as well as attend a live performance which may incur a fee.
