Transfers ToCSUCSU GE Area EDescriptionThis course will introduce basic steps, styles and rhythms associated with at least three dance disciplines including, but not limited to, ballet, jazz, modern, hip- hop, lyrical/contemporary, hula, bellydance, Congolese or Ugandan, Bollywood or Bharata Natyam, Argentine tango or other world forms of dance. Lecture will encompass the historical and cultural placement of at least three dance styles from inception to current media trends. Lab will include warm up exercises, movement combinations and dance choreography appropriate to each dance style. Upon completion of this course, students will have experienced performing a variety of dance styles and techniques and be able to critically discuss the socio-cultural and historical context of each style.
