It examines their cellular and molecular structure, physiology, metabolism, and genetics. Laboratory work introduces methods for cultivating and characterizing microorganisms. Topics will be related to global public health issues both past and present. Students are required to purchase a laboratory coat, microscope slides, safety glasses, disposable gloves and a laboratory notebook.
