Transfers ToCSUDescriptionThis course is approved by the California Department of Public Health and includes classroom instruction and is designed for all beginning students and for phlebotomists with less than 1040 hours of phlebotomy experience. Basic instruction topics include universal precautions, infection control, laboratory and equipment safety, basic anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and blood collection techniques. Upon successful completion the student is prepared to take the California state examination to become a Certified Phlebotomy Technician I. Student will complete a minimum of 10 skin punctures that fulfill all sampling requirements of all clinical laboratory tests or examinations and 50 venipunctures performed pursuant to Business and Professions Code that fulfill all sampling requirements of all clinical laboratory tests or examinations.
