Though emphasis is on comprehension and analysis of mathematical concepts and applications of logical reasoning, material is presented in a way that emphasizes the notion that the mathematical knowledge a teacher needs is different from the knowledge a student or practitioner of mathematics needs. It is a survey of the elements of mathematics taught in elementary grades but from an advanced standpoint. Prerequisite: Completion of two years of high school algebra and appropriate placement score, or completion of MATH015 with a grade of C or better, or equivalent. (C-ID MATH 120 ).
