    Introduces the student to concepts and issues related to teaching diverse learners in today’s contemporary schools, Kindergarten through grade 12. Includes teaching as a profession and career, credentialing requirements, historical and philosophical foundations of the American education system, contemporary educational issues, California’s content standards and frameworks, teacher performance standards and ethical responsibilities. Requires 45 hours of structured field experience in public school elementary classrooms under a certificated classroom teacher.
