    Description
This is an introductory course that explores the intersectionality between the study of language (its properties and characteristics) and language use (in their community of origin and cross-culturally). Emphasis is placed on an in-depth study of the sound system of the world's languages, called phonetics and phonology. In addition, the course explores community linguistic practices and cross-cultural communication as it relates to the sound inventory of the world's languages.
