This course satisfies the educational requirements of the Department of Real Estate for both Real Estate Salesperson and Real Estate Broker licenses. It defines and explains the principles and laws regulating common-interest develop- ments. It compares and contrasts the differences between condominiums, townhouses, own-your-own apartments, stock cooperatives, and other planned unit developments. Topics include the study of the formation, development, management, purchase, sale and lease involving Cali- fornia common-interest developments. The course pres- ents an analysis of state and federal laws that govern the various aspects of common-interest developments and Homeowner's Associations. This course addresses the problems encountered by owners who live in common-in- terest developments. This course pays particular attention to recent legal cases that have brought about amend- ments and additions to the Davis-Stirling Act.
