    Description
The study of philosophy helps satisfy higher-level human needs, increases personal awareness, deepens tolerance, refines analytical powers, and equips us to deal with life's uncertainties. As such, this course introduces students to the discipline of philosophy as an activity characterized by asking questions and answering them through persistent, critical investigation and analysis. Philosophy 001 provides students with an opportunity to engage in philosophical inquiry, via application of primary philosophical texts, and critically examine their current ethical, social, political and economic surroundings, including those issues concerning social justice, diversity, and equity. Thus, students gain an in-depth, inclusive, awareness and understanding of the major topics in philosophy with the specific aim of examining metaphysical, epistemological, axiological, and existential questions and ideas, as they relate to and impact their lives.
