    This course is an introduction to the use of print and online information resources used by public, school, academic and special libraries. Students learn effective techniques for assisting library patrons and will practice everyday reference service, with opportunities for developing reference skills. Topics to be covered include the principles and practices of conducting a reference interview - in person and remotely - accessing, searching, and evaluating a variety of information sources in different formats. The course primarily uses print and electronic resources available through the DVC library plus other commonly available resources found in a variety of libraries and information centers.
