    Description
This course evaluates the interconnectedness between gender and sport. Students gain knowledge in and practice critical thinking methods as they analyze the historical and modern relationship between sport and gender roles, participation opportunities, and progress towards equity. Inequities that occur within sport relative to language, economics, media exposure and representation, that are based upon sex, gender, sexuality, and race, are explored. The application of sociological theories and methodologies, as well as logic and reasoning, will enable students to question commonly held assumptions, formulate arguments, and create their own analyses of current issues related to gender and sport.
