    Description
This course provides a comparative analysis of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) history from 1848 to the present. Topics include an exploration of AAPI perspectives; immigration and settlement patterns; labor, legal, political and social history. A comparative historical approach, placing AAPI immigration within the context of global interdependence and inequality, frames the course materials. This course will examine migration theories and patterns, the politics and policies of U.S. immigration, resettlement patterns, and the reconstruction of identities and social networks. The three periods of AAPI Immigration: Before World War II; during and after World War II and the Cold War; and after 1965 to the present will be explored.
