    Description
    This noncredit oral communication course focuses on the needs of multilingual students at the advanced level. Building on ESL-085 or ESL-085NC, the course offers strategies for academic engagement. Exploring a variety of conceptually and linguistically complex topics, students will work on oral comprehension of lecture and presentations, strategies for note taking, and academic discussions. Students will also practice the norms of the American college classroom. The course will also present strategies for developing an awareness of their own strengths and challenges of communicating in English. Students may wish to take ESL-095NC with the ESL reading and writing course, ESL-097A or ESL-097NC at the same level.
