    Description
This course presents Early English Literature from the time period of roughly 750-1790, a thousand years of poetry and prose that reflects the diverse history of the English-speaking peoples who populated the British Isles (England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales). The course examines the evolution of style and language in selected texts and the influence of cultural heritage on ideas, institutions, literature, and other art forms. The course also exposes students to distinguishing elements of selected literary forms and to the art and practice of analyzing and writing about literature.
