    Description
This course is designed for multilingual students who do not speak English as their primary language. ENGL-123A is a continuation of first-year writing, focusing on the analysis of literary texts, the development of logical reasoning, and the improvement of argumentative writing skills. It is designed to develop critical thinking, reading, and writing skills beyond the level expected in first-year writing through the study of various critical approaches and diverse literary genres. This course emphasizes cultural discussion as well as skill-building in academic communication, rhetoric, linguistic complexity, and the grammar concepts specific to the needs of multilingual students. During the course, students will be assigned college-level essays of at least 750 words in length, with 6,000-8,000 final draft words assigned.
