Transfers ToCSUCSU GE Area EDescriptionThis course provides an introduction to the discipline of kinesiology and its role in the rehabilitation of disabled populations through manual therapies such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, orthopedic medicine and adapted physical education environments. Critiques of common pathological conditions using the overarching principles of kinesiology and the interplay of physiological, sociological, and psychological factors related to rehabilitation will be included. These factors will be discussed as they relate to lifelong skills needed by a therapist working in a field with individuals with physical disabilities. Hands-on practice of manual therapy techniques will be incorporated in the laboratory portion of the class, which will prepare students for an internship to work under the guidance of a certified disability management specialist.
