Transfers ToCSUCSU GE Area EDescriptionDesigned to provide an introduction to the discipline of Kinesiology and its role in sports medicine-related fields that include manual therapies such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, orthopedic medicine, and athletic training. Critiques of common athletic injuries using the overarching principles of kinesiology and the interplay of physiological, sociological, and psychological factors related to rehabilitation will be included. Physiological, sociological, and psychological factors will be discussed as they relate to lifelong skills working in a sports medicine field. Hands-on practice of manual therapy techniques will be incorporated in the laboratory portion of the class and will prepare students for an internship to work under the guidance of a certified athletic trainer.
