Students will learn to stop hackers, worms, viruses, spyware, web bugs, identity theft, and other cyber threats. Vulnerabilities found in web browsers, e-mail, and operating systems will also be learned, along with how to protect against online purchase dangers, install firewalls, manage cookies, restrict ports, evaluate wireless networks, and examine encryption. The course includes numerous hands-on exercises to demonstrate security concepts. This noncredit, tuition-free course will be completed in the same class as CIS D108. students covering the same course content.
