Students will explore traditional and modern literature, including exile writings by Vietnamese immigrants leading to Vietnamese American expressions. The course will focus on several major themes in literature: colonization, war and representations of Southeast Asians, and the migration experience. Students will develop a historical and aesthetic understanding of Vietnamese and Vietnamese American creative expressions.
