The course focuses on war and militarism, international political and economic relations, and globalization to analyze their impact on migration, racial politics, economic practices, identity, community formation, sexuality and activism among Asians in the U.S. The course explores historical and contemporary examples from the 19th century to the present to assess efforts by Asian Americans for self-determination in a transnational context.
