    This course offers a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals of American Sign Language (ASL) and Deaf culture. Students will explore ASL linguistics and grammar, focusing on the manual alphabet, finger-spelling, vocabulary and sentence structure. The course emphasizes the development of ASL hand shapes, orientation, movement of the hands, arms, and body, as well as facial expressions. Through practical exercises and immersive activities, students will enhance their understanding of Deaf culture, history, and improve their ability to communicate effectively with the Deaf community using ASL.
