Proposes criteria for literary and artistic evaluation, use, age appropriateness in selection, and critical perspectives. Introduces a wide range of authors, genres, and formats including folktales, fantasy, science fiction, poetry, historical fiction, realistic fiction, non-fiction, picture books, and graphic novels. Demonstrates presentation techniques, including storytelling. Meets Title XXII requirements: DS3, DS5.
