Transferable: CSU; UC General Education: Local GE L3; Cal-GETC Area 3B This course will introduce students to the major world religious traditions, including indigenous sacred ways, Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Students will study the practices and beliefs of each tradition and will read selected material from the sacred writings of each tradition. Also, the influence of these religions on contemporary issues in the United States including ethnicity, ethnocentrism, racism, ageism, class differences, and sexual orientation is considered. This course fulfills Cosumnes River College's Ethnic/Multicultural requirement for the Associates Degree. This course is the same as RLST 301. This course, under either name, may be taken only one time for credit.
