    MUP 321 Advanced Jazz Band Units: 1 - 2 Hours: 54 - 108 hours LAB Prerequisite: MUP 320 with a grade of "C" or better Enrollment Limitation: Previous experience on any instrument or voice type (strings, winds, brass, and percussion, including vocalists, pianists, guitarists, and composers). Auditions may be held at the beginning of each semester to place students within the ensemble. Transferable: CSU; UC This course is the continuing study and performance of jazz band repertoire and techniques for both music majors and non- music majors with previous experience on any instrument or voice type (strings, winds, brass, and percussion, including vocalists, pianists, guitarists, and composers). Additional topics include improvisation, part preparation, listening skills, and section leading. Public performances and field trips may be required. This course may be repeated to meet the major requirement for transfer to CSU, Sacramento, or to other universities with a similar transfer requirement. Auditions may be held at the beginning of each semester to place students within the ensemble.
