    MATH 30 Pre-Algebra Mathematics Units: 5 Hours: 90 hours LEC Prerequisite: MATH 20 with a grade of "C" or better; or equivalent skills demonstrated through the assessment process. This pre-algebra mathematics course emphasizes: fundamental operations on integers, fractions, and decimals; formulas involving geometric figures; measurement; and solving basic equations. Topics include: fractions; decimals; signed numbers; properties of exponents; scientific notation; conversions; metric system; square and cube roots; formula evaluation; solving equations; ratios; proportions; algebraic manipulations; descriptive statistics; the rectangular coordinate system; and elementary calculator use.
