Modern Making 459 COSUMNES RIVER COLLEGE 2025-2026 Official Catalog Music CRC Music Degree programs provide students with the foundational core curriculum in music, designed to prepare and build musicianship through courses in music theory, history, and performance. Music Majors choose an emphasis in either instrumental or vocal performance while pursuing the Associate of Arts and the Associate of Arts for Transfer degrees. Certificates in Music serve as supplemental areas of specialization and first steps toward a career in music. The CRC Music Department offers one-year certificate programs in Entrepreneurial Arts and Music to support the professional interests of students on campus regardless of their major. Students with this degree will receive priority admission with junior status to the California State University system. Students should work closely with their Cosumnes River College counselor to ensure that they are taking the appropriate coursework to prepare for majoring in Music at the institution they wish to transfer to because major and general education requirements may vary for each CSU and the degree may only transfer to specific institutions. Completion of this degree provides a foundation in music. Program offerings include coursework in music theory and aural skills, applied composition, instrumental and vocal instruction, and ensemble performance. Students must complete the following Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) requirements: (1) Completion of 60 semester units or 90 quarter units that are eligible for transfer to the California State University, including both of the following: (A) The California General Education Transfer Curriculum (Cal- GETC). (B) A minimum of 18 semester units or 27 quarter units in a major or area of emphasis, as determined by the community college district. (2) Obtainment of a minimum grade point average of 2.0. ADTs also require that students must earn a "C" or better in all courses required for the major or area of emphasis.
