This course presents an overview of the intellectual, social, political, economic and cultural history of Italy in the Renaissance period from the fourteenth century to the end of the sixteenth century. It examines the historical forces and processes that shaped the societies of Italy during this era, including the experiences and perceptions of marginalized groups, in areas such as civic life, education, social organization, artistic and literary cultures, geography, ethics and politics.
