This is a survey course on the establishment and development of the United States from its colonial beginnings to the end of Reconstruction in 1877. Particular emphasis will be placed upon the political, economic, social, and cultural developments of the United States during the designated time period. The course will cover the ideological influences that were instrumental in shaping the Constitution and other related government structures.
