    HIST 301 History of Europe and Mediterranean World to 1550 Units: 3 Hours: 54 hours LEC Prerequisite: None. Advisory: ENGL C1000 Transferable: CSU; UC General Education: Local GE L3; Local GE L4; Cal-GETC Area 4 C-ID: C-ID HIST 170 History 301 is a survey course on Western Civilization from c. 3000 BCE to 1550 CE. The course will trace the origins, development, and advancement of European Civilization from antiquity to early modernization. In addition to political analysis, emphasis will be placed upon the socio-economic structures of various peoples discussed during this time period. Finally, the birth, growth, and later fragmentation of Christianity will be covered.
