This is the experimental courses description. 364 Geography 2025-2026 Official Catalog COSUMNES RIVER COLLEGE Geology Geology is the study of the origin and evolution of the earth, utilizing the principles of mathematics, chemistry, physics and biology. The concept of geologic time and the principles of uniformitarianism help geologists to understand the processes that shape the earth and its environments. Geologists study rocks, minerals and fossils in an effort to draw conclusions about both the earth's observable surface processes that meet the eye, and the earth's interior. Students must complete the following Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) requirements: (1) Completion of 60 semester units or 90 quarter units that are eligible for transfer to the California State University, including both of the following: (A) The California General Education Transfer Curriculum (Cal- GETC). (B) A minimum of 18 semester units or 27 quarter units in a major or area of emphasis, as determined by the community college district. (2) Obtainment of a minimum grade point average of 2.0. ADTs also require that students must earn a "C" or better in all courses required for the major or area of emphasis. A "P" (Pass) grade is also an acceptable grade for courses in the major if the course is taken on a Pass/No Pass basis. Upon successful completion of the degree requirements, students will be guaranteed admission to the CSU system with junior status and will not have to repeat lower division coursework. Students are encouraged to meet with a counselor to develop their educational plans as degree options and general education requirements vary for each university.
