    ENGLT 336 Race and Ethnicity in Contemporary American Literature Units: 3 Hours: 54 hours LEC Prerequisite: Eligibility for ENGL C1000, previously known as ENGWR 300. Transferable: CSU; UC English 317 COSUMNES RIVER COLLEGE 2025-2026 Official Catalog General Education: Local GE L3; Cal-GETC Area 3B This class will examine literature written in the United States during the last 50 years in which the issues of race and racism, ethnicity and ethnocentrism, and culture and assimilation predominate the thematic concerns. All genres will be examined, as well as writers from many of the ethnic groups in America, including African Americans, Mexican Americans, Native Americans, and Asian Americans.
