    Description
    CONST 102 Introduction to Construction Practices Units: 4 Hours: 54 hours LEC; 54 hours LAB Prerequisite: None. This course provides students with in-depth analysis of the organization and structure of the construction industry and the many career choices the industry offers. Many of the construction trades are represented, with formal apprenticeship opportunities highlighted. The emerging "Green Building" jobs will be examined, as well as other topics in sustainability. Guest speakers and field trips provide the students a wide view of the expectations of entry-level work, wages, benefits, and work place culture. The curriculum also emphasizes job site safety, practical working knowledge of tool and equipment use, an introduction to blueprints, and an overview of industry math.
