Transferable: CSU; UC 174 Art 2025-2026 Official Catalog COSUMNES RIVER COLLEGE General Education: Local GE L3; Cal-GETC Area 3A; Cal-GETC Area 3B This is a survey course that studies works of art and architecture produced by artists of Muslim countries and regions from the period of the early caliphates (c. 700) to the heights of the Islamic empires (c. 1700.) It provides fundamental information on the formation of Islamic art, its history and philosophy but also deals with the relationships between the Islamic, Asian, and Western artistic traditions. This course includes but is not limited to visual examples from the Middle East, Iran, India, North Africa and Spain.
