    Description
    ARTH 311 Art Survey: Modern Art Units: 3 Hours: 54 hours LEC Prerequisite: None. Transferable: CSU; UC General Education: Local GE L3; Cal-GETC Area 3A C-ID: C-ID ARTH 150; Part of C-ID ARTH 120 This course covers diverse art forms including painting, sculpture and architecture in Europe and America from the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries. Styles discussed will include Neoclassicism, Romanticism, Realism, Impressionism, Post- Impressionism, Symbolism, Art Nouveau and all the major Modern art movements of the 20th century such as Fauvism, Cubism, Expressionism, Dada, Surrealism, American Modernism, Pop Art, Happenings, Conceptual and Installation Art. This class will also cover Post-Modernism, Neo- Expressionism, Video Installations, and Globalization. A field trip to an art museum is required. Students may choose between an in-person field trip to an art museum or a virtual museum tour. Links to such virtual museum tours will be provided by the instructor.
