Students will be introduced to performance studies: analysis, appreciation, and application of theories of interpretive performance of various forms of literature, including poetry, prose, and drama (plays, scripts, and screenplays). Emphasis will be placed on the study of literary genres, styles of composition, techniques of characterization, approaches to literary criticism, performance skills, and editing techniques. The course provides students an opportunity to synthesize classroom material throughperformanceandpresentation.
