Transfers ToCSUCSU GE Area A3DescriptionTotal Lecture Hours: 54 This course introduces students to deductive and inductive reasoning; distinctions between arguments and explanations; considerations of truth, validity, and soundness as they pertain to argumentation; the syllogistic method; conditional reasoning; the structure and function of language in argumentation; and Venn diagrams. Identification of common formal and informal fallacies is stressed. Also emphasized are statistical reasoning and the scientific method.
