    Description
    This course will provide students with a historical awareness and interdisciplinary overview of La Raza Studies as an academic field. Students will gain a basic understanding of the historical, social, political, economic, and cultural context of Chicanos/as and Latinos/as in the Americas. The course will provide a theoretical framework for the study of race, ethnicity, class, gender, and sexuality. Students will also examine diverse perspectives on empowerment, liberation, decolonization, self- determination, sovereignty, and anti-racism. This course has a comparative and transnational approach.
