It helps students by providing experience and practice with common experimental techniques like collection, analysis, display, and interpretation of data that students need for success in these biology courses. Topics covered and reviewed include the metric system, ratios and proportions, graphing, serial dilutions, microscope use, pH and basic chemistry, and some general cell biology and biochemistry. Students who believe they are already adequately prepared may challenge the course by examination.
